The Mara Explorer Camp is located in a dense, woody forest on the edge of the Talek River. While staying at this luxury camp, you could witness the Great Migration of the wildebeest, gazelles, elands and zebras as they travel from the Serengeti through the Masai Mara in the months of July through September. Even as you arrive at this Heritage camp, you will be enveloped by their warm hospitality with the cool drinks and wet towels they offer to refresh you. The warm earthy tones of the lounge with its ethnic hand carved tables, cushions with African motifs and curios will enchant you, as will its awesome view of the river. Prepare to spend a pampered vacation in Africa where your every need is carefully looked after.
Stay in the camp’s 10 very spacious, tented rooms, each facing the river with a private deck furnished with comfortable safari furniture. While seven of the tents feature a plush king size bed, the other three have twin beds. Colonial-themed lower-back chair, antique wooden chest and dresser that also serve as a writing desk are also placed in the tent while ethnic-design rugs cover the wooden floor. To one side of the tent is an elegant standalone bath facing the river so you can enjoy an outdoor bathing experience, but in complete privacy. The bathroom includes a shower stall, bathrobes, twin basins and top-quality toiletries for your use. The camp also offers a deposit safety box for your valuables and laundry services. In addition, a personable valet assigned to each room takes care of you on your bush travel in Masai Mara Reserve.
Enjoy delicious meals in the camp’s dining tent or on the riverside under the shade of the trees. You can also experience private bush dining. Order to meals and table d’hote are available in camp along with special dietary dishes cooked for you with prior notice. As dusk settles over Masai Mara plains, a campfire is lit around which you can sip sundowner cocktails. Have your dinner on the partially shaded wooden deck looking out over the river with quaint lanterns to light up the evening and sounds of the wilderness for melody.
Mara Explorer can arrange for an optional private bush breakfast for you at the end of your morning game drive, and should you wish to stay out all day viewing the amazingly diverse flora and fauna of Masai Mara Game Reserve, you could have a picnic lunch too. Custom-equipped safari vehicles are made available for your game drives and the experienced guide on board maximizes your wildlife viewing experience with in-depth information of the plethora of mammals and more than 450 species of birds.
On your safari bush walks, your naturalist guide will show you the traditional Maasai techniques of tracking animals and making life-giving medicines from the varied floras. Also, study the insect life and understand the vital role they have in the ecosystem. Go on balloon safaris for an enchanting bird’s eye view of the vast wilderness and uninterrupted wildlife activity below you, and embrace your tribal trip in East Africa with warm memories of the folks of Masai Mara and their rich culture when you visit their village.
